Last but not least, amazing views of Old Town Corfu, Old and New Fortresses, Garitsa Bay, Vido and Pontikonissi island: A Boat Trip Through Corfu’s Iconic Heart ideal for the Sunset Cruise:

Garitsa Bay is a perfect introduction to Corfu’s charm. From the water, you’ll understand why this was the very first suburb of the island’s capital, and why it continues to captivate every visitor. Lined with palm trees and elegant Venetian homes, this promenade is the kind of place you feel nostalgic for—even before you leave.

The Old Fortress rises proudly, built on a rocky peninsula and completely surrounded by the sea. Once the island’s main defense against pirates and invaders, today it’s a peaceful landmark with soaring bastions and panoramic views. As we pass by, take a moment to imagine centuries of watchmen scanning the Ionian waters from its ramparts.

The New Fortress, perched above the old port, is carved with secret tunnels and mighty stone walls. And between the two fortresses, Corfu’s Old Town stretches like a living postcard—Venetian balconies, winding alleys, and bell towers rising from the rooftops.

Opposite the fortresses, across the bay, lies the islet of Vido—a green oasis floating just off the town’s edge. Once home to a Venetian nobleman (Guido Malipieri, from whom it took its name) and later a juvenile correctional center, Vido now offers a wilder, quieter face of Corfu. From the boat, you’ll spot its pine-covered hills, walking paths, and three hidden beaches, Tramoudana, Maistro, Korfiatissa. Most people never set foot on Vido—consider this your secret view.

As we steer south, a truly iconic sight comes into view: Pontikonisi (Mouse Island), with its Byzantine chapel nestled among the trees, and just beside it, the postcard-perfect Monastery of Panagia Vlacherna, connected to the shore by a narrow stone causeway. The entire scene is so dreamy it’s hard to believe it’s real—and from the sea, it looks even more magical. Legend has it Pontikonisi was the Phaeacians’ ship turned to stone by the gods for helping Odysseus just before they managed to enter the harbor. Today, it’s one of Corfu’s most photographed jewels.

Just above it all sits Kanoni, a serene neighborhood named after the old cannon still stationed at its viewpoint. From up there, locals and travelers alike gather to admire the planes as they skim the sea, the boats below, and the shimmer of the lagoon. But nothing beats seeing this scene from the water—where the sky and sea meet in endless shades of blue.

Welcome to Corfu’s beating heart. A journey through myth, memory, and timeless beauty—seen as it was meant to be: from the water.
Right where you need to be with Dreaming Blue.
